I have 4 of the 1TB AcomData PureDrive 1TB USB 2.0/eSATA External Hard Drive PDHD1000USE-72 for over 2 months. I have 4 of the Seagate 750GB external drive of which I also do double backups -- these Seagate 750GB are still working, but I was running out of space. (I did not want to buy the 1.5TB nor 2.0TB at this time, because I do not want to "keep all my eggs in one basket"). Then over weeks, I purchased the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Quiet. These work great. I bought my 1st one, and took it home to try it. So I carefully researched, and decided to buy the AcomData external 1TB drives.
I said I would try it out for my 30 day return time, and they passed my tests. My history: I do double backups of all my videos -- that is, I save the videos to one external backup drive, and then I save the same backup to another external drive. Things I like about the AcomData 1TB external drives (pluses +):+ Works great. Does not heat up too much (although I keep a small fan blowing over them, and my computer).+ Have great on / off power switch.+ Blue and red lights are nice, and lights activity tells me what the drive is doing.I have no complaints and I recommend these 1TB external drives.
Like the other reviews stated. It died after 5 days for me, I was able to retrieve all my data off it using Linux, but it still won't work on Windows. I'm sending it back today. Amazon should remove this product, it's worthless.
I use to file pictures and it locks some times but works well, it is fast and silence;
The drive it's very good in many ways. It has a good size, very portable, great speed, although I have a few things to tell. I though the drive didn't use a power connector, it' has a 12V AC cable.And actually with the format and the driver it doesn't have 500 Gb, it has 465 Gb.Eveything else is great. Good purchase.
AcomData PureDrive 1 TB USB 2.0/eSATA External Hard Drive PHD10000USE-72 As my Western Digital Book drive failed from being too hot, this item replaced it. Connected via USB to my Mac Mini, it performs very well recording and playing HiDef Videos, which are about 6Gig an hour. Looking forward to using the eSATA connect to my Linux and Windoze boxes.A long, thing color status light makes it look like it came from the console of the starship Enterprise.Definitely recommend this device for the price / performance and it looks really cool.
